Mission Statement:
We aim to inform and train both our members and the interested public with educational courses and direct hands-on classes in order to build a more informed, capable chapter focused on raising class consciousness.
Strategy:
Political education is foundational to any political movement, and we view CHS DSA as having a critical role in building class consciousness in the Lowcountry and beyond. We are dedicated to building the knowledge of the essential texts of socialism, which are guideposts for leftists organizations. This committee aims to have weekly reading groups, monthly courses, and an annual symposium to raise class consciousness within the chapter and within the Charleston community. Along with the activities within this committee, we strive to be the theoretical sounding board for the chapter as a whole, utilizing the knowledge of historical materialism and dialectics to inform Charleston DSA’s vision and goals.
